Afterimage

Jim Morris says that the cumulative effect of today's bombardment of sensory data is a sort of afterimage, burned into the brain. His paintings at Triangle have been on small panels, but are rich in their color and detail. They call to mind not only maps and diagrams, but sometimes also current events- for instance I saw one which I thought was referring to the bombed out aerial views of Lebanon that we kept getting a while back. Indeed, he had been thinkning about that, but took that first, more literal image and went further into the qualities of color and form, rather than maps/politics.
